A narcissus in May. A bearded iris in June. Cosmos in July and dahlias in August. Flowers can bring us back to a time and place. They can also honor the memory of those we have lost. Often my couples will choose to marry at a time and in a place that carries the imprint of a lost but beloved parent, grandparent or sibling as a way to carry that person close on their wedding day. In these moments it is always my intention to deepen that connection through the flowers I incorporate into the overall design. By tucking her grandmother's favorite zinnia into her bouquet, or his father's prized tomatoes into the centerpieces, the presence of loved ones is more keenly felt, on the day and in the memories that will surface for years to come.
Nature carries us through the seasons, signaling the passing of time and marking moments through changes in our surroundings. I design using only locally grown, seasonal flowers and foliage because from the moment you hold your bouquet to the moment you arrange a few dahlia stems in a vase on the kitchen counter 5 years later, the feeling those flowers evoke will remain the same and the memory will have been tied to them forever.
Each of my weddings is the physical representation of months worth of collaborative effort. My couples provide the most important inspiration for the floral design of their wedding, because unlike the season's trends, what brought them together will remain long after any "in & out" list. At the heart of my designs is a commitment to honoring what lies at the heart of you. Your thoughts, desires and passions are considered and integrated into your wedding floral design, telling your story, naturally.
I made the decision years ago that in order to properly care for my clients I would take only a select number of weddings each season. As a one-woman company I am personally onsite at every wedding and I am the only point of contact for planners and couples. Maintaining this connection to my clients is vital to bringing out the floral design that is the most authentic to each of my couples.
"From our very first meeting we knew Kim was the florist for us. We immediately clicked and she fully understood the aesthetic we were aiming for. We gave Kim full artistic license and had no hesitation in doing so as her work speaks for itself. She curated the ultimate intimate ceremony, dining and reception spaces. Kim is a true artist and master of her craft."
"We knew Kim would be the perfect fit for our wedding from the first time we saw her work; airy designs, delicate touches of color, whimsical but orderly with work that only complimented the photo instead of taking away from the scene."
"Within the first few minutes of our initial phone call we were already discussing big picture ideas and goals for our wedding weekend."
